Dodge City, Kansas – Beneficial rainfall is expected to arrive in southwest Kansas by Sunday, but conditions will not be uniform across the state. A sharp gradient in rainfall amounts will impact central counties, with much heavier rainfall expected in the southeast and much less to the northwest.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, rainfall will vary significantly across the state, with the highest coverage and heaviest amounts favoring the southeast counties. A notable difference in rainfall totals is expected, particularly in central Kansas, where areas may see between 0.25 and 1 inch of rain, while the northwestern regions could see very little or none at all.

The heaviest rainfall is projected to fall south and east of Dodge City, with totals up to 1.5 inches or more in some areas. The sharp rainfall gradient means that portions of the state, especially in the north and northwest, could be nearly dry, even as regions to the southeast benefit from more significant rainfall totals.

Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates as the situation develops, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions by Sunday evening.
