Kansas residents should prepare for severe weather as thunderstorms are expected to develop between 4 PM and 7 PM today. The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a warning for areas including Wichita, Salina, Hutchinson, and Russell, highlighting the potential for dangerous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, the most severe storms are capable of producing hail up to the size of quarters, winds reaching 70 miles per hour, and heavy rainfall. These conditions pose significant threats, including damage to vehicles, roofs, and trees, as well as localized flooding in areas with poor drainage.

Residents are urged to stay informed by monitoring local weather updates and having multiple ways to receive warning information, such as mobile alerts or weather radios. The threat of severe weather is expected to subside after 7 PM, but caution is advised until the storms have passed.
