Wichita, KS – Cooler temperatures are forecasted for much of Kansas today, with isolated severe storms anticipated southeast of the Kansas Turnpike this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita warns that these storms may produce damaging winds up to 70 mph and heavy rainfall.

According to the NWS, Wichita will experience a high of 86°F today with a 55% chance of storms. Tonight’s lows will range from 60-66°F. The risk of severe weather diminishes late Friday night, with temperatures expected to rise into the mid-80s to mid-90s.

Friday’s forecast predicts sunny skies with highs between 85-97°F. However, isolated storms may return late Friday night into Saturday morning. The weekend promises clearer skies and higher temperatures, with Saturday’s highs reaching 91°F and Sunday expected to be sunny with a high of 84°F.

The beginning of next week could see the return of stormy weather, with a 55% chance of rain on Sunday and a 35% chance on Monday. Sunday’s temperatures will peak at 84°F, and Monday will bring highs around 83°F.
