Dodge City, Kansas – Rain and temperatures in the 40s will keep Southwest Kansas feeling more like early spring than May on Wednesday, with roads slick and outdoor plans dampened across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, a round of light to moderate rain will pass through the area through Wednesday evening, holding highs to the upper 40s and low 50s. A slight chance of lingering showers continues into Thursday morning, but skies begin clearing by afternoon as warmer air returns.

Cities like Garden City, Liberal, and Ulysses should prepare for chilly starts Thursday, with morning lows near 47°F and highs gradually climbing to the mid-60s. By Friday, temperatures rebound sharply into the low to mid-70s under sunny skies, kicking off a stretch of dry and seasonably warm weather into the weekend.

Residents are advised to delay outdoor travel during heavier rainfall Wednesday and dress in layers due to the cooler-than-average temperatures. By Saturday and Sunday, high temperatures near 75°F will make for ideal conditions for outdoor activities, with no rain expected.

The next update from NWS Dodge City will come Thursday morning, with no additional advisories currently in effect.
