Buffalo, NY – Persistent morning showers are soaking parts of western and central New York, especially the Finger Lakes, Genesee Valley, and eastern Lake Ontario regions, with rainfall tapering by late afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, rain chances reach 100% in cities like Geneva, Rochester, and Fulton before coverage and intensity ease after 12 p.m. Areas from Buffalo to Wellsville will see lower totals, with most showers expected to end by early evening. Some locations could pick up as much as half an inch, particularly where showers are more numerous.

Cooler air lingers across the region today, with high temperatures topping out between the mid-50s and mid-60s. Buffalo and Batavia may only reach the upper 50s, while Jamestown and Dansville warm slightly more into the low 60s.

Drivers should prepare for slick roads during the morning commute and allow extra time on wet highways, especially I-390 and Route 104. Residents are advised to keep umbrellas handy and check local alerts before traveling.

Showers should clear across most areas by tonight, though patchy dampness and low clouds may linger. No additional weather alerts are expected through Wednesday evening.
