Kansas City, MO – A blizzard warning has been issued for parts of eastern Kansas and northwest Missouri, with dangerous conditions expected from Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, the warning is in effect from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 3 a.m. Wednesday, impacting Doniphan County in Kansas and Andrew, Atchison, Holt, and Nodaway counties in Missouri. Winds could gust up to 60 mph, creating whiteout conditions and making travel extremely hazardous.
While total snow accumulation is expected to be minimal—up to one inch—strong winds will significantly reduce visibility and could cause tree damage. The storm may also affect the Wednesday morning commute, making road travel dangerous.
Officials urge residents to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Those who must drive should carry an emergency winter survival kit and be prepared for sudden road closures.
Missouri travelers can check updated road conditions at traveler.modot.org, while Kansas drivers can call 511 for real-time updates.
