Kankakee County, IL: Knife Versus Gun Fight Leads to Attempted Murder Charges

Kankakee County, IL – A man is in custody following an argument that escalated to a knife versus gun confrontation in rural St. Anne on Friday evening.

According to the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police, officers were called to an apartment complex on East Country Club Drive just after 6:30 p.m. Witnesses reportedly told police that a group of men were talking outside when two began arguing. One man allegedly drew a knife, prompting the other to retrieve a handgun from his apartment. The latter then allegedly shot the knife-wielding man as he attempted to flee, hitting him at least once.

The victim reportedly took himself to the hospital. The suspect, identified as 65-year-old Tyrone Pious Senior, was arrested on charges of attempted murder and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
