Kalamazoo County, MI – A woman was fatally shot Sunday afternoon following an altercation at a mobile home park in Kalamazoo County, and a man has been arrested on multiple felony charges, including homicide.
According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 3:25 p.m. Sunday, July 5, after receiving a report of two individuals fighting over a handgun at the Colonial Manor Mobile Home Park. Shortly after the initial call, dispatchers received several additional reports of shots fired in the area.
When deputies arrived, they located and detained a man believed to have been involved in the altercation.
During their investigation, deputies found an unresponsive woman inside a mobile home. Authorities said she had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Responding deputies and emergency medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The detained man was transported to the Kalamazoo County Jail, where he was lodged on multiple felony charges, including homicide, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials have not released the identities of the victim or the suspect, and no additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting have been made public.
