Fort Wayne, IN – Two young juveniles were hospitalized early Monday after gunfire struck a home on Fort Wayne’s south side, according to police.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers responded at approximately 4 a.m. Monday, July 6, to reports of shots fired in the 6000 block of Southcrest Road.
When officers arrived, they found a residence that had been struck multiple times by gunfire. Investigators also located several shell casings in the roadway near the home.
Officers searched the residence and found two young juveniles inside who had sustained injuries. Both children were transported to a local hospital, where they were reported to be in serious but non-life-threatening condition, according to police.
Detectives canvassed the neighborhood and collected evidence at the scene. The department’s Homicide Team, Crime Scene Unit and Air Support Unit were called in to assist with the investigation.
Authorities have not released the ages of the injured juveniles, identified any suspects, or said whether the home was specifically targeted.
The investigation remains active.
