Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan is expected to experience unsettled weather as showers and isolated thunderstorms are predicted to develop on Friday. The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac issued a Marginal Risk warning for severe weather across the region, particularly impacting the Saginaw Bay area and surrounding communities.
According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms could develop by midday, primarily over the Saginaw Bay region. A secondary round of storms is anticipated to move through Southeast Michigan after 4 p.m., continuing into the evening. There is a 60 to 70 percent chance of these storms bringing damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, hail of one inch or greater, and possibly isolated tornadoes.
Residents should stay alert and prepare for potential severe weather late Friday afternoon and evening. With the Labor Day weekend approaching, the timing of these storms could disrupt travel plans and outdoor activities.
