According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, isolated thunderstorms are likely Thursday night and into early Friday morning, mainly affecting northern areas. Storms are also expected Friday night and Saturday, with highs rising to 87 degrees. Despite the chance of rain, the weekend will see a steady climb in temperatures.

Sunday is predicted to be the hottest day of the week, with highs nearing 97 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The heat will continue into early next week, with Monday’s temperatures forecasted to reach the low 90s. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions during the upcoming heatwave.
