Indianapolis, IN – A 35-year-old Indianapolis man was taken into custody Wednesday morning, less than 24 hours after a deadly shooting on the city’s north side left one woman dead and another man seriously injured.

According to IMPD, officers responded around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday to the 3700 block of North Pennsylvania Street after reports of gunfire. Inside the residence, they discovered an adult female victim with gunshot wounds, later identified as Kia Robinson, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, an adult male, was also found with gunshot injuries and transported to the hospital in stable but serious condition.

IMPD homicide detectives, assisted by the Marion County Forensic Services Agency and the Marion County Coroner’s Office, launched an investigation at the scene. Authorities were able to identify Clarence White, 35, as the alleged suspect.

By Wednesday morning, IMPD detectives along with the Violent Crimes Unit, SWAT officers, and the Northwest District Violent Crimes Task Force located White in the 6500 block of East 82nd Street. He was taken into custody without incident.

White has been preliminarily charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. IMPD reports that he was allegedly armed at the time of arrest.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and determine formal charges. Authorities remind the public that an arrest is merely an accusation and all individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
