Denver, Colorado – Residents across eastern Colorado and western Kansas should prepare for severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and large hail through 8 p.m. Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Severe Thunderstorm Watch 370 is in effect for 18 counties in Colorado—including Adams, El Paso, Pueblo, and Weld—as well as Greeley, Wallace, and Wichita counties in western Kansas. The watch was issued at 1:35 p.m. MDT and includes the Denver metro area and stretches east along the I-70 corridor.

Storms may bring wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail larger than one inch in diameter. Isolated power outages and minor property damage are possible, especially in rural communities and open plains. Areas like Colorado Springs, Fort Morgan, and Burlington could see rapid storm development this afternoon.

Drivers are urged to delay travel if possible and avoid flooded roads. Secure loose outdoor items, remain indoors during thunderstorm activity, and monitor emergency alerts via NOAA weather radios or mobile apps.

The watch remains in effect until 8 p.m., though additional advisories may be issued if conditions persist. Stay weather-aware as storms continue to track across the region this evening.
