Grant Park, IL – A bizarre scene unfolded in Kankakee County on Friday evening when a homeowner reportedly discovered an Indianapolis man sitting in his living room and eating cereal.

The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred just before 7 p.m. Friday, when the homeowner returned to their residence in Grant Park and allegedly found Samuel C. Lian inside without permission. Deputies reported that Lian had climbed through a window to gain entry.

The homeowner, reacting quickly, reportedly grabbed a butcher knife and held Lian at bay until law enforcement arrived and took him into custody.

Lian was arrested on a charge of residential burglary and transported to the Jerome Combs Detention Center. As of Monday, authorities had not released bond details.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
