Indianapolis Bus Crash Sends Seven to Hospitals After Car Collision

Indianapolis, IN – Seven people were transported to area hospitals late Sunday night after a car collided with an IndyGo bus at the intersection of 9th Street and Capitol Avenue. According to the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD), both the car and the bus were headed south on Capitol Avenue when the car attempted a left turn across the bus lane, colliding with the bus.

The driver of the car was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by IFD firefighters within 10 minutes. She was transported to Methodist Hospital in serious but stable condition. Six of the nine passengers on the IndyGo bus were also transported for medical evaluation—four to Methodist Hospital and two to Eskenazi Health.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is investigating the incident.
