Heavy rain will accompany the winds, potentially causing isolated flooding and minor power outages. Strongest winds are expected from noon to early evening, making outdoor activities hazardous.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory remains active until 8 p.m. Sunday. Residents across the Wabash Valley and Indianapolis metro area should secure outdoor items, such as holiday decorations, to prevent damage. Tree limbs could fall, creating localized road hazards. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, especially on major roadways such as I-70 and I-65, as strong gusts may impact visibility and vehicle stability.
The forecast calls for continued rain through Monday, with 1–2 inches of total accumulation possible. Monday will remain cloudy with occasional rain and highs near 45°F. Winds will decrease to 10–15 mph.
Looking ahead to the New Year’s holiday, Tuesday brings a 90% chance of rain, followed by a cooler New Year’s Eve with highs in the mid-30s. A slight chance of snow is expected Wednesday into Thursday as temperatures dip below freezing.
