Fort Wayne, IN – Travelers in Indiana should prepare for wet and foggy conditions in the days following Christmas. Forecasters are warning that rain and patchy fog may cause reduced visibility on roadways, particularly tonight and Thursday morning, as temperatures rise into the 50s by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Christmas Day will bring a 30% chance of rain after 9 a.m., with cloudy skies and a high of 38 degrees. Tonight, temperatures will dip to around 33 degrees, with drizzle and areas of dense fog likely to impact visibility. Drivers on major routes like I-69 and US-30 are urged to use caution.
Looking ahead, Thursday will remain cloudy with highs near 48 degrees and a low around 36 degrees at night. Rain chances will increase to 80% by Friday, with rainfall amounts of up to a quarter-inch possible. Highs on Friday will peak at 51 degrees, continuing the unseasonably warm trend.
Saturday is expected to be the wettest day of the week, with a 70% chance of rain and temperatures reaching a high of 58 degrees. Rain may persist into Saturday night before tapering off on Sunday.
