Porter County, IN – Drivers in northwest Indiana should prepare for overnight lane closures on I-94 near U.S. 20 this week as road crews work to remove a temporary barrier wall.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), the left lanes of both eastbound and westbound I-94 at U.S. 20 (exit 22) will be closed overnight on Tuesday, May 27. The closure is scheduled to begin at approximately 7 p.m. and last until around 1 a.m. Wednesday, May 28.

The temporary closure will allow construction crews to safely dismantle the barrier wall, part of ongoing roadway improvements in the area. INDOT advises motorists to remain alert for work crews and construction equipment during this time.

The scheduled lane restrictions are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes or allow extra travel time through the affected stretch near Burns Harbor and Porter.

For continued updates, travelers can monitor real-time traffic alerts through the official INDOT website and social media platforms.
