Rolling Prairie, IN – Drivers traveling through northern Indiana can expect delays on State Road 2 this week as the highway is reduced to one lane in each direction for a short-term construction project.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation: Northwest, starting on or after Tuesday, June 3, State Road 2 will undergo lane closures between County Roads 600 East and 700 East (Cougar Road) for pipe and inlet replacement. The project is expected to last approximately one week, with alternating closures while crews are actively working.

The affected stretch lies between the towns of Rolling Prairie and New Carlisle. INDOT advises motorists to remain alert for changing traffic patterns and potential slowdowns in the area. Detours are not expected, but delays are likely, especially during peak travel hours.

The temporary lane reductions are part of maintenance efforts to improve drainage infrastructure along this portion of State Road 2. Drivers are encouraged to plan for extra travel time and watch for workers and construction equipment near the road.

More information and updates can be found through INDOT’s official traffic alerts page and social media channels.
