Terre Haute, Indiana – Drivers along Interstate 70 should prepare for overnight slowdowns starting tonight as lane closures begin for resurfacing work in west central Indiana.
According to INDOT West Central, eastbound I-70 will be reduced to a single lane between State Road 59 near Brazil and the Clay-Putnam County line beginning at 7 p.m. tonight. The closures will remain in place through 10 a.m. Wednesday and are expected to continue periodically throughout construction season.
The affected stretch spans roughly 15 miles and includes key travel routes used by commuters and freight traffic. Drivers heading toward Terre Haute and beyond could encounter delays, especially during overnight hours and into the early morning commute.
Crews will be performing patching and resurfacing work, which may also lead to sudden slowdowns and shifting traffic patterns in the work zone. Officials urge motorists to reduce speed, stay alert for signage, and allow extra travel time.
INDOT warns that additional overnight restrictions are likely in the coming weeks as the project continues.
