La Porte, IN – Road construction on U.S. 35/Indiana Avenue in La Porte is set to begin, leading to significant lane reductions and traffic changes, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).
Starting on or after Thursday, March 13, northbound U.S. 35 will be reduced to one lane between Crescent Drive and Kingsbury Avenue. The restriction will remain in place through late April to allow for storm sewer installation.
According to INDOT, additional intermittent single-lane closures with flaggers will occur on U.S. 35 between State Road 2 and Kingsbury Avenue as needed through late November. Motorists should expect delays and use alternative routes when possible.
Later this spring, the main phase of construction will begin with the reconstruction of the Kingsbury Avenue and Woodlawn Drive intersection. INDOT officials say the project will continue with pavement replacement on U.S. 35 between Woodlawn Drive and South Avenue.
Drivers traveling through La Porte should remain cautious and plan for extended travel times in affected areas.
