Indiana Residents Face Infant Child Endangerment Charges After Kankakee Brawl

Kankakee, IL – A report of a brawl on North Greenwood Avenue in Kankakee has led to the arrest of three Indiana residents on charges including alleged child endangerment involving an infant. 

According to Kankakee City Police, responding to the incident just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, pursued a vehicle with suspects seen fleeing the scene. Law enforcement stopped the suspects in the 300 block of East Chestnut, where a search revealed two handguns and a rifle. 

Kentrell Allen, Demetrius Shaw, and Brianna Williams, all 26, were taken into custody. Allen, found wanted on a warrant, faces allegations of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in a vehicle and mob action by force, along with child endangerment. Shaw’s alleged charges include defacing firearm ID markings, aggravated assault on public property, and participation in mob action. Williams was also charged with alleged involvement in mob action, and allegedly endangering her infant son, who was present during the incident.

The safety of the infant, was a primary concern, with authorities swiftly ensuring the child’s welfare before releasing him to a family member. This incident has not only heightened concerns over gun violence but also spotlighted the severe implications of endangering children during criminal activities. The Kankakee Police Department is thoroughly investigating the brawl that has brought these serious charges against the Indiana residents.
