Westfield, IN – A man was arrested after allegedly firing water bead projectiles inside a Taco Bell in Westfield, injuring one person.

According to the Westfield Police Department, officers responded to a reported weapons incident at the Taco Bell on 965 E Tournament Trail, where a victim stated they had been struck by an unknown object while inside the restaurant. Officers quickly located the suspect and made an arrest.

Police said the object used was not a real firearm but closely resembled a submachine gun. It was capable of discharging Orbeez, a brand of water bead projectiles. The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office has since filed several misdemeanor charges against the suspect, including Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury, Disorderly Conduct, and Criminal Mischief.

Authorities noted this was not the first such incident in the city. Westfield police have previously received similar reports involving Orbeez being shot at individuals in public places.

Law enforcement emphasized that discharging any kind of projectile—whether from a real or simulated weapon—can result in criminal charges.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious behavior immediately to police.
