Indiana: Fatal House Fire in Wabash Claims Toddler’s Life, Critically Injures Infant

Wabash, IN – A devastating house fire in Wabash on Sunday claimed the life of a 2-year-old child and left a 6-month-old critically injured.

According to Wabash Central Dispatch, the fire was reported at 12:10 p.m. at 646 Columbus Street. A passerby alerted family members to the blaze, which started on the first floor of the home. Firefighters from Wabash and Noble Township responded to the scene.

Authorities said 2-year-old Deliaha Goforth was found deceased inside the residence, while the infant was rescued in critical condition and flown to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.
