Wheatfield, IN – Cadaver dogs led authorities to three separate locations on a Wheatfield property where bone fragments were uncovered, as part of an investigation into the alleged murders of two undocumented children. The fragments are now being analyzed to determine whether they belong to the children or animals.

The investigation began on September 20, 2024, when the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a suspect had allegedly confessed to killing two undocumented children and burning their bodies in a backyard fire pit. Detectives quickly located the suspect(s) at a hotel in Newton County, where they were interviewed. Though the suspect(s) denied involvement, their cellular devices were seized, revealing new evidence.

During the investigation, another undocumented child in the care of the suspect(s) was placed into protective custody by the Indiana Department of Child Services.

On September 30, detectives, along with Homeland Security and local police, conducted a full search of the Wheatfield property. The search, supported by cadaver dogs, uncovered bone fragments at three different locations, deepening suspicions of foul play. The fragments were sent to specialists in Indianapolis for further examination.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. The community remains on edge as they await further developments in the disturbing case.
