Lombard, IL – The historic Lombard Cemetery will host its annual Tales & Tombstones event this Friday and Saturday, October 4 and 5. The event offers a unique opportunity to explore the history of Lombard through a guided, candlelit tour.
Attendees will walk through Lombard Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in the village, meeting the spirits of past residents. These actors portray figures who shaped the town’s history over 100 years ago, sharing stories from the community’s past. This year’s event features the first ‘Hello Girl’ of Lombard and a survivor of the Peshtigo Fire.
According to the Lombard Park District, participants should bring a flashlight and wear sensible shoes as the tour covers uneven ground. Tours begin at 6:00 p.m. and run every 15 minutes until 8:00 p.m. Each tour group is limited to 16 people, ensuring an intimate and engaging experience. Pre-registration is required, and slots are filling up quickly.
The event is open to anyone aged 14 and older. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Light refreshments will be provided.
