Indiana Corporal Brandon Schreiber Succumbs to Injuries from Illinois Incident

Kentland, IN – Newton County Sheriff’s Corporal Brandon Schreiber, a five-year veteran of the Indiana department, has died from injuries sustained in a September 1 shooting in Sheldon, Illinois.

Schreiber was assisting the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office during the incident and was critically injured by gunfire. He was taken to Iroquois Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Carle Trauma Center, where he remained in critical condition.

Despite medical efforts, Schreiber succumbed to his injuries. The Illinois State Police are leading the investigation. Schreiber, an organ donor, will help save others through his sacrifice. Additional updates are expected later this week.
