La Porte, IN – A truck driver caused alarm earlier this week after ignoring multiple road closures and driving directly into an active construction zone near the US 6 and US 421 South Junction. Deputies from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reported that the driver bypassed not one, but two sets of road-closed barricades before entering the site.
According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, this incident marks one of several traffic violations that have occurred near this construction area over the past few months. The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that such reckless behavior is not only illegal but endangers the lives of construction workers and other motorists.
“Driving behaviors of this kind are absolutely inexcusable and will not be tolerated,” stated a representative from the Sheriff’s Office. The construction zone is already hazardous, and the risk of injury or fatality is significantly heightened by drivers who disregard safety protocols.
As the roadwork nears completion, the Sheriff’s Office urges all drivers to exercise extreme caution in the area. With local schools back in session, the presence of school buses further necessitates careful driving. Authorities are committed to enforcing traffic laws to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.
