Chicago, IL – Snowfall expected Wednesday afternoon and evening could create hazardous travel conditions along and northwest of I-57. The National Weather Service forecasts up to one inch of snow accumulation, which may reduce visibility and lead to slippery roads.

According to the National Weather Service, the greatest snowfall chances will occur late Wednesday into the night. While accumulations will remain light, very cold ground temperatures will cause roads to freeze quickly. Drivers are advised to plan extra travel time and monitor forecasts for updates.

Snow may begin early Wednesday morning in northern Illinois but will primarily develop in the afternoon. Reduced visibility and slick roads will pose challenges for commuters. Areas northwest of I-57 will see the highest impact.

Motorists should check their vehicles and prepare for winter travel conditions. Weather services recommend slowing down and exercising caution on highways.
