Moline, IL – Gusty northeast winds and dry conditions are raising fire risks across the Quad Cities area today, especially near dry agricultural fields west of the Mississippi River. Residents are urged to avoid activities that could spark fires, as winds of up to 30 mph are expected.

According to the National Weather Service, the wind advisory remains in effect throughout today and tonight. The affected areas include Moline, Davenport, and much of northern Illinois and eastern Iowa. Dry weather conditions, combined with the strong winds, could cause any fire that ignites to spread rapidly. Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and avoid open burning.

Tonight, winds will decrease slightly to 5-15 mph, with temperatures cooling to the upper 50s. The fire risk will subside as winds calm overnight, but the overall dry weather will persist.

Looking ahead, Sunday’s forecast remains sunny with highs near 82°F, and gusts continuing around 20 mph. By Monday, the Quad Cities will see a warm-up, with highs around 83°F, but fire risks will decrease as winds weaken. Cooler air arrives mid-week, bringing highs around 72°F on Tuesday and dropping to the low 40s by Tuesday night.
