Peoria, IL – Freezing rain continues to impact central Illinois, with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until midnight CST Wednesday. Ice accumulations could reach up to one-tenth of an inch, making roads, bridges, and overpasses dangerously slick.

According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, affected areas include Peoria, Bloomington, Normal, Canton, and Galesburg. The greatest icing threat is expected late Wednesday afternoon into the evening, particularly north of I-74.

Drivers should prepare for hazardous travel conditions and allow extra time for their commute. Pedestrians should also be cautious, as untreated surfaces could be slippery.
