Chicago, IL – Commuters using the Kennedy Expressway should prepare for delays as a key exit ramp closure is now rescheduled to begin next week.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Monday that the outbound ramp from I-90/I-94 to Fullerton Avenue (Exit 47A) will close starting Monday, June 16, to allow for ongoing bridge rehabilitation and ramp repairs.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the ramp was originally expected to close Wednesday, but the closure has been postponed and will now remain in place for approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Detours will be posted, and drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes in advance to avoid congestion.
The affected ramp services traffic heading northwest on the Kennedy Expressway toward the Fullerton Avenue and Western Avenue corridors. This closure is part of broader efforts to maintain infrastructure integrity and improve roadway safety along one of Chicago’s busiest corridors.
Motorists are advised to follow posted detour signs and monitor traffic conditions in real-time. Additional details and project updates are available through the department’s official channels.
