Normal, IL – Illinois State University Police Department (ISUPD) responded to calls of potential threats on campus Monday evening. ISUPD confirmed no active threats, reassuring the community that the campus is safe.
According to ISUPD, the department received several calls about potential dangers, including an active shooter at Illinois Wesleyan University. The Bloomington Police and Illinois Wesleyan’s Campus Safety responded to the call, thoroughly investigating. No shooter was found, and the threat was ruled out.
Earlier in the evening, Western Illinois University issued an emergency alert after two officers were shot while serving a warrant near campus. Western Illinois Police are investigating the incident.
ISUPD reminded students to verify information before sharing it on social media, as spreading misinformation can harm the community. The department emphasized their commitment to student safety and urged reporting of any first-hand accounts directly to the police.
