CHICAGO, Ill. – Jen Cook, a Science teacher from Momence Jr. High School, has been selected as one of four Monthly Winners in the Future Goals™ Most Valuable Teacher program presented by SAP, an initiative by the NHL and NHLPA.
The program recognizes exceptional teachers and promotes environmental sustainability by awarding $10,000 in resource donations to each Monthly Winner’s school district. Cook is now in the running to be the Future Goals™ Most Valuable Teacher of the Year and win an additional $20,000 in resource donations.
Cook has been teaching for 31 years and is a dedicated fan of the Chicago Blackhawks. She credits her decision to become a teacher to the influential teachers she had while growing up. Outside of the classroom, Cook enjoys watching Chicago sports, attending concerts, and volunteering with her son. She even named her dog Stanley after the Stanley Cup.
The other finalists for the award include Nicholas D. Penberthy from Pinehurst Elementary School in New York, Michael S. Casella from East Amwell Township School in New Jersey, and Sandra Metzger from Charles Boehm Middle School in Pennsylvania.
