NEBRASKA – A routine traffic stop on I-80 last week in Nebraska turned into a major drug bust when State Patrol troopers discovered 61 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.
According to State Troopers, the incident occurred near mile marker 324, close to Giltner, around 9:45 a.m. on Thursday. Troopers initially pulled over a Toyota Camry for tailgating another vehicle along eastbound I-80. The encounter raised suspicions, especially after an K9 Unit alerted to the presence of controlled substances. A thorough search of the vehicle unveiled an astonishing 61 pounds of suspected meth concealed in bins, along with a loaded handgun.
The occupants, 21-year-old Juan Martinez Arroyo and 25-year-old Edwin Correa Miranda, both from Cicero, Illinois, were taken into custody. Both now face multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver, and possession of a firearm during a drug violation. Both men are now held at Hamilton County Jail.
