Griggsville, IL – A missing man from Pike County was discovered alive Wednesday morning after authorities used improved cellular data to narrow down his location to a remote ravine near Illinois 107 between Griggsville and Perry.

According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, the search intensified on Wednesday morning after officials received more accurate cell phone ping information. The new data pointed to a location with a much smaller search radius—approximately 88 meters—compared to the broader pings received earlier in the week, which included areas in southern Brown County and northern Greene County.

Mr. Boston, the missing individual, was found approximately 75 feet off the east side of Illinois 107, about 50 feet down a ravine in a creek bed. His vehicle was discovered overturned and concealed by dense trees and vegetation, which had made aerial and ground searches especially difficult.

Authorities said Mr. Boston was not actively using his phone but that the signal data proved critical in locating him. He was rescued from the vehicle by responders from the North Pike Fire Department, the Griggsville Fire Department, and Pike County EMS.

He was later airlifted by helicopter to St. John’s Hospital, where he is reportedly in stable condition.

Multiple agencies assisted in the multi-day search effort, including the Illinois State Police and its Air Operations Unit, the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and sheriff’s departments from Brown and Greene counties.

Sheriff David Greenwood extended thanks to all involved, including the family of Mr. Boston, who provided essential support throughout the search.
