KANKAKEE, Illinois – The bomb threat that led to the evacuation of Bishop McNamara High School has been traced back to an online gaming incident originating in Miami, Florida.

This revelation emerged following a detailed investigation by the Kankakee Police in collaboration with Miami law enforcement.

According to police reports, the threat, which disrupted the school day on Tuesday, was initially reported to the Kankakee Police by the school’s administration. Students were promptly evacuated to a nearby church and bowling alley while the police conducted a thorough search of the school at 500 W. Brookmont Blvd. No suspicious items were found, and the school was declared secure by 9:00 a.m.

Kankakee Police Detectives, through their inquiries, discovered that the threat was made by a juvenile in Miami during an online gaming session on a streaming platform. The Miami authorities, upon being informed, engaged with the juvenile and his mother, who cooperated fully and assured that there was no actual intent to harm.

No charges have yet been announced in the incident.
