Lombard, IL – The Lombard Cycling Classic returns to downtown Lombard on Tuesday, July 23, with significant road closures from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. The event is expected to attract numerous participants and spectators, causing major traffic disruptions throughout the day.
According to the Village of Lombard, St. Charles Road will be closed from Elizabeth through Main Street, including the intersection of Main Street and St. Charles Road. Additionally, the underpass at Main Street and the track crossing at Elizabeth Street will be closed. Vehicles are advised to use the crossings at either Crescent Boulevard or Grace Street to navigate the area.
East and westbound St. Charles Road traffic will be detoured north to Grove Street, while north and southbound Main Street traffic will be detoured east to Grace Street.
The last race is scheduled to end at 8 p.m., and road closures will remain in effect until 10 p.m., when public safety personnel will have cleared the race route.
Residents and commuters are reminded to plan ahead for these closures and seek alternate routes to avoid delays. The Village of Lombard encourages attendees to arrive early and consider using available parking areas during the race.
