Champaign, IL – Central Illinois residents should prepare for dangerous winter weather this weekend, including snow, freezing rain, and bitter cold temperatures. A winter storm is expected to sweep through the area beginning Saturday night, bringing heavy snow and icy conditions south of I-70.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin late Saturday in southern areas and intensify Sunday afternoon. Central Illinois communities, including Champaign and Springfield, are forecast to receive between 2 and 6 inches of snow, with freezing rain mixing in south of I-70.
