Boise, ID – An Air Quality Advisory is in effect for Boise and several surrounding counties due to wildfire smoke. Residents should be aware that the Air Quality Index (AQI) is forecasted to reach unhealthy levels, potentially impacting everyone, with more severe effects expected for sensitive groups.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory covers Ada, Boise, Canyon, Elmore, Gem, Payette, and Washington counties. The advisory is set to remain in effect until 3 p.m. Monday. Residents are advised to monitor the situation and take necessary precautions, particularly if they belong to sensitive groups or have respiratory conditions.

The current HRRR smoke forecast indicates that no significant improvement in air quality is expected through Saturday, with smoke from wildfires likely persisting in the region. Temperatures are forecasted to remain high, with Boise seeing highs in the mid-90s through the weekend and into next week.

Residents are encouraged to stay indoors when possible, use air purifiers, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities until the air quality improves. With wildfire smoke continuing to impact the region, staying informed and prepared is essential.
