Boise, ID – Frigid wind chills have gripped much of the northern U.S., with some areas experiencing temperatures plunging below -40°F. In Idaho, temperatures remain cold, but the Northern Rockies have offered some protection from the worst of the Arctic air.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, the current temperature is 25°F, with a wind chill of 20°F. While Boise will see slightly warmer conditions compared to the northern plains, residents can expect a low of 17°F tonight and 18°F on Monday night.

Elsewhere, regions across Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota are enduring life-threatening wind chills as the Arctic blast spreads across the Midwest. The National Weather Service has urged residents in affected states to limit outdoor exposure and dress in layers to avoid frostbite or hypothermia.

Idahoans can expect calm winds and mostly sunny skies through the week, with highs nearing 39°F by Thursday. While Boise remains relatively protected, the weather serves as a reminder of the importance of winter preparedness for colder areas.

Residents are advised to monitor local alerts and take precautions against the cold, including keeping emergency kits in vehicles and checking on vulnerable neighbors.
