Pocatello, ID – Today, Idaho residents can expect a mix of clouds, showers, and thunderstorms due to a passing pressure trough. The National Weather Service in Pocatello forecasts that the main impacts will be in and around Pocatello, with the affected areas experiencing non-severe thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service, regions experiencing thunderstorms will see an improvement in air quality as the atmosphere becomes less stagnant. This is reflected in the latest AirNow readings, which show varying levels of air quality across the state. Rainfall in the affected regions is expected to improve air quality significantly.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for today from noon to 9 PM, indicating high fire danger in areas with expected scattered thunderstorms. Residents are advised to take precautions due to the heightened risk of wildfires.

Today’s temperatures are forecasted to be the coolest of the next seven days. Highs will reach around 81°F in Pocatello, with a significant warming trend expected later in the week. Wednesday and Thursday will see temperatures climbing to 87°F and 95°F respectively. By Friday, the high is anticipated to reach 100°F, with Saturday being the hottest day at 103°F. Temperatures will start to decrease slightly on Sunday, with a high of 97°F.

Idaho residents should remain vigilant for weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially in areas under the Red Flag Warning. The cooler temperatures today offer a brief respite before the intense heat forecasted for the weekend.
