Hurricane Milton: Multiple Fort Myers Tornado Track Extended with Peak Wind Increase

Fort Myers, FL – New data from the National Weather Service (NWS) has revealed additional tornado damage from Hurricane Milton. Surveys identified two new tornado tracks in El Jobean and the Babcock area. The Fort Myers tornado path was also extended, with peak winds increasing to 132 mph.

According to the NWS, the Fort Myers tornado stretched over 11 miles and caused significant damage to a warehouse. The tornado produced extensive roof damage and uprooted trees along Colonial Blvd and Orangewood Ave. It weakened slightly as it passed into North Fort Myers, causing scattered tree damage before intensifying near Pine Island Road.

Newly discovered tornadoes in El Jobean and the Babcock area were rated EF1 and EF0, respectively, with winds reaching 94 mph in El Jobean. Both tornadoes were brief but caused structural and tree damage before dissipating. Further surveys are expected to refine the tornado count.
