JOLIET — Hollywood Casino reopened its doors on July 1st in Illinois.
A day before reopening, on June 30th, the Casino filed a report with the state indicating it would lay off 256 employees stretching across two Illinois locations, in Joliet and Aurora.
The company blames the pandemic and shutdowns for the mass layoffs, according to the Illinois Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act report.
The layoffs will reportedly take place by September 15th. In all, Hollywood Casino Aurora plans to lay off 111 workers, while the Joliet facility will lay off 145.
The Casino indicated in the report the layoffs would be permanent.
