Indianapolis, IN – Unseasonably warm temperatures and powerful winds are set to impact Indiana today, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph across parts of the state. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a wind advisory for the Upper Wabash Valley, where gusts will peak around 40-50 mph north of I-70 and 30-40 mph farther south.
Temperatures will hit record highs, reaching the upper 70s across cities like Indianapolis, Lafayette, and Seymour. The morning warmth, aided by strong southerly winds, will bring Indiana-wide temperatures up to the mid-70s. However, a change in weather patterns is expected by the afternoon.
NWS forecasts light to moderate rainfall this evening, with a chance of thunder as clouds increase. Rain showers will move west to east, bringing additional precipitation into early Wednesday. Winds are expected to gradually decrease tonight, shifting to a lighter breeze late evening.
