Oakwood, IL – Westbound lanes of Interstate 74 will close tonight near Oakwood for urgent repairs, impacting travel in Vermilion County. The closure, located 1.5 miles west of the Oakwood interchange (Exit 206), begins at 9 p.m. and will continue until 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced the closure to allow crews to repair a damaged beam on the CR 680 East bridge over I-74. A detour will redirect drivers to U.S. 150, with signs posted to guide motorists.
IDOT urges drivers to allow extra travel time, as delays are expected. Alternate routes are recommended, especially for those looking to avoid congestion. Drivers should pay close attention to work zone signs, obey speed limits, and remain alert.
