Spokane, WA – A powerful winter storm is bringing heavy snowfall to parts of Idaho and Washington, with Winter Storm Warnings in effect through Saturday morning and afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, snow accumulations in Idaho’s Central and Northern Panhandle regions could range from 6 to 14 inches above 3,000 feet, with lower elevations receiving 1 to 4 inches. The hardest-hit areas include Pinehurst, Lookout Pass, Wallace, Sandpoint, and Bonners Ferry. In Washington, Western Chelan County—encompassing Holden Village, Stehekin, and Stevens Pass—could see an additional 8 to 16 inches of snowfall through Saturday afternoon.
Travel conditions are expected to be hazardous, particularly during the Friday evening commute. Motorists are urged to carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and flashlights. In Idaho, travelers can check road conditions by calling 511, while Washington drivers can visit wsdot.wa.gov for updates.
Authorities advise limiting travel if possible and preparing for potential disruptions as the storm progresses.
