Buffalo, NY – New York is gearing up for a wet weekend as weather conditions are set to bring significant rainfall and thunderstorms to the region. A warm front pushing through Western New York will cause showers and thunderstorms capable of heavy downpours, raising concerns about potential flooding.

According to the US National Weather Service Buffalo, showers and thunderstorms will overspread Western New York and the Finger Lakes region starting Friday. Torrential downpours and localized flooding are possible, especially if storms repeatedly move over the same areas. North Country, however, is expected to remain mostly dry throughout the day.

By Tuesday, the probability of rain increases to 40%, and temperatures will drop slightly to 65°F to 77°F. Wednesday maintains a 35% chance of rain with cooler temperatures ranging from 61°F to 77°F.
