Stroudsburg, Pa. – A dangerous early-summer heat wave will blanket the Mid-Atlantic through Tuesday, with heat index values exceeding 100°F across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland—triggering advisories from the Poconos to the Eastern Shore.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the extended heat advisory includes Carbon and Monroe counties in Pennsylvania, where the alert begins Sunday morning. By Monday, extreme heat stretches south through Dover, Georgetown, and Easton, Md., with “feels-like” temperatures reaching 109°F in some locations.

Nighttime lows in the mid to upper 70s will prevent meaningful cooling, creating what meteorologists call “tropical nights.” That adds to heat stress for residents without access to air conditioning, especially in urban and inland areas.

From Sandy Hook to Cape May, New Jersey shore towns will also swelter, with coastal heat index values near 100°F. Health officials across the region warn of increased risks for dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid outdoor work during the hottest parts of the day. The multi-state heat advisory expires Tuesday at 8 p.m., but further alerts may be issued if conditions persist.
