Heat Indices Soar Above 100°F in Central Indiana Today

Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana is set to experience another hot and humid day, with heat indices expected to exceed 100°F. Relief is forecasted for tomorrow as cooler and less humid conditions are anticipated.

According to the National Weather Service Indianapolis, temperatures will reach the low to mid-90s today. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are predicted for the afternoon and evening, potentially bringing severe weather with lightning and damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph.

Residents are advised to take precautions against heat-related illnesses by limiting strenuous outdoor activities to the morning or evening hours and staying hydrated. Symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, such as dizziness, heavy sweating, confusion, and unconsciousness, should be treated promptly.

Looking ahead, Wednesday is expected to bring a high of 81°F with partly cloudy skies and a chance of showers. Temperatures will continue to drop throughout the week, reaching a low of 59°F by Saturday. Clear skies and moderate air quality will persist, providing some respite from the heat.
